make it monday Carnival birthday party

Hey guys since I moved almost 2 months ago I have been very busy.  With getting things done to the house and trying to unpack and arrange things in a new house. Still not done with all of that.

I am also trying to start a new business. Planning birthday parties for kids. I figured why not take my 11 years experience taking care of children an put it to good use.  Since I know what most kids like from trying to think up fun activities all these years. Also I have helped Mindy plan all of her DD parties the last couple of years.

The Name of my new business is Perfect Party Planning by Stephanie (P3)

So this weekend was my first party.  I was a carnival theme for a 2 year old. First I made tickets for invitations.  So I had to keep the party games pretty simple.  We had a ring toss for drinks, a knock the cans over game, a fishing game, a face painting station, a bubble pop station, and a photo wall.

Today I am going to share with you how to make ticket invitations.
Our color them mostly red and white so I bought red card stock.
First I decided what I wanted the ticket to say then I went in word and made them up
Admit one
Carson’s 2nd Birthday
Carnival Party
July 13 12:00 to 2:00
(Address here )
RSVP to the ringmaster at (phone number here )
Here is a example of what they said.
Then print them out of your card stock it can be any color you want I used red to keep with our color theme. I was able to fit 3 on a page.

Next you are going to cut them out with zigzag scissors.
Once they are cut out take around about 1 inch hole punch and in the middle of each side punch a half circle.
when you are finished it should look like this
If you have any questions please let me knows
I know this is not a new idea by any means and there are probably better tutorials out there but I forgot to take pictures every step of the way.
I will be posting more carnival themed stuff all week.

Dr Suess Birthday Ideas

As most of us who work with young children know Dr Seuss's birthday is Saturday March 2nd.  We are talking about Dr.Seuss all this week.  And reading lots of his books.  I was even able to find some really cool games for us to play.  All I did was go on google and search for Dr Seuss craft ideas and I ended up at about.com the has links to lots of stuff.  Here are a few pictures of the games I found.

a maze

cat in the hat tic tac toe

the lorax dominoes

green eggs and ham tic tac toe

I had my older child in childcare here color the ones that needed to be colored.  Then I cut them out and laminated them and re cut them out so that they would last more than a few day.  I may put velcro on the tic tac toe games.

There are also links to more mazes and find the difference pages. So if you are looking for fun simple Dr Seuss ideas check these out.

Thrifty Thursday Body Scrub From the pantry

Hello everyone if you are like me you get really dry skin in the winter.  I have been itching like crazy because of dry skin.  So I decided to do something about it.  I made a body scrub using 3 simple ingredients that you probably have In your pantry right now.

Recipe
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
a few drops extract in your favorite sent.

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.  If it is not moist enough add a little more olive oil.  Mine was fine with just the 1/4 cup. Then store in a plastic container in the shower. Scrub your body with it next time you shower it helps remove dead dry skin and add traps in much need moister from the oil.

This was so easy I let the children I babysit make some for their mom for her upcoming birthday.
these would make great gifts.

childrens christmas trees day one and a give away

Hey everyone here is a cute kids craft and another give away.
Monday we made these really fun Christmas trees.

you will need green construction paper
green pipe cleaners
large beads
markers crayons and anything else you want to use to decorate your tree.  As you can see we uses the dots we were using on our Christmas cards last week.

First you need to gather 3 different size round object to trace on to green construction paper

then you cut out your different size circles.

next had them over to your younger kids and let them decorate the circles.

Then you punch a hole in the middle.
then fold the end of a pipe cleaner up a couple of times it should look like this

next you slide a bead on to the pipe cleaner then slide you biggest tree circle

then add 2 beads and the next size circle.then 2 more beads and the last circle then we added a gold bead to the top.  Then twist the pipe cleaner around its self right above the gold bead so that you have a loop for hanging .
this is what ours looked like when we were all done

Here is my give away for today. beaded bobby pins

christmas cards day 3

Well we didn't get to make as many Christmas cards last week as I planned on I wanted to make them at least 4 days.  So we took Wednesday off to watch a Christmas show.  Then Friday one of my little ones got sick and since they are all in the same family they all went home really early.  So we only got to do 3 days.

This card is really cutie.
All you need is a blank card or card stock cut in half and folded in half.
different colors of construction paper.
a hole punch
glue
and markers.
I cut card stock in half and then folded each half in half. To make my cards.
Then I let my children

then I let the children use hole punches to punch out a lot of holes from the construction paper

then I put glue dots in a random pattern around the edges of the cards and let the children put the construction paper dots on the glue

then you take a green marker and draw lines around the dots.  Then you add black lines connecting the construction paper dots to the green marker lines.  And you have a Christmas lights card.  You can write a message in the middle or leave it blank your choice.

I hope you are all having a good time getting ready for Christmas.

Childrens Christmas Day 2 more cards

We used construction paper strips to make Christmas tree cards today
the first picture was made by the 9 year old girl I watch and the picture below was made by the 3 year old I watch

These are very simple to make you just cut strips of brown and green construction paper and glue them down to your card
First you glue the brown down to be the trunk of the tree.

then you glue your green strips across the brown.

My kids wanted to add decorations so they used holes punched out of construction paper and glued them on to the trees.

I think they turned out pretty cute
Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you

Childrens Christmas Day1- Christmas cards

Stephanie here
Okay as most of you know I run a home childcare.  We are all excited here getting ready for Christmas.  I have lots of Christmas Crafts and Activities planned for the next few weeks.  And I thought I would share them here with everyone.
This week we are doing Christmas Cards.  Here are the ones we did for day 1
These cards are so simple that most children over 5 or 6 should be able to do them on their own.

first I printed some ornament shapes out on regular printer paper and cut them out
then I had the children glue strips of construction paper all over them

then I  cut off the excess paper since I have mosly little people older chldren would have no problem doing this.

this is how it will look with the paper all trimmed

I made simple cards by cutting card stock in half then folding each cut piece in half.

then let the children glue the ornaments on to their cards.

Now their parents have some homemade cards to give to grandparents and other special people.

Rock Star Birthday Party

Saturday was my daughter Emily's 8th birthday party. She wanted to do a rock star theme so that is what we did. It was pretty simple to pull off and the girls had such a good time!
For the invitations I had used store bought ones. I had found them on clearance for 50 cents and they said rock star on them.
We decorated the outside of my house with a red carpet.
Stephanie's husband made the wood stands for me.  I bought red rope from the craft section at Hobby Lobby and used red tablecloths. The sign on the garage said Emily and the Rockers.
Once you got inside we had a pink metallic curtain at the front door for the girls to walk through. My front room was the dressing room.
We painted nails and the box on the floor had a bunch of wigs and stuff in it for the girls to dress up with.
I had a bunch of avon samples of eye shadow and lipstick for the girls to get dressed up with. We  had some combs layed out and mirrors for the girls to see themselves in.
In my great room we set up a stage.
The girls loved it and the drum set was part of my daughters birthday present. We used it to take pictures on.
We decorated my fire place with records and then that is where Emily opened presents later on.
I set up a table that had all of the girls "goody bags" on. The goody bags were old records that had been melted into bowls.

I also made all of the girls notebooks to take home.
In the kitchen we set up the cake and cupcakes.
The girls made picture frames for their crafts. I am going to print off a picture of them so they can put it in the frames.
We did a pinata and then cake and ice cream while Emily opened presents.

We even got to walk the red carpet! I let every girl have a chance to be the "rock star". I think this was their favorite part!
I also had a chance to take some group pictures. I alternated the girls so that the group of  3 all had Emily in them but had 2 different girls each time.

For food we did concession type food....nachos, hot dogs, chips, popcorn. The girls got to drink out of champagne glasses ( I put lemonade in them)
The party was so much fun. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures you can check them out here;
