Thanksgiving food Turkey

We have done a deep fried turkey for years now.  This will be the first time my boyfriend and his family have one.  I make mine very simple rinse the turkey and pat dry then I use a recipe I got off Paula Deans Web sight  long time ago.  It is called lady and son's house seasoning.  (the recipe is below) Just rub this all over the turkey and then follow the deep fry instructions for your deep frier. And remember to be safe.

House Seasoning: 1 cup salt 1/4 cup black pepper 1/4 cup garlic powder
Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

thanksgiving food

Hey everyone
Stephanie here. I am getting really excited about thanksgiving this year.  I am going to have a house full this year.  Just what I need to help me get back on the right track after all the bad stuff that has happened the last few years.

So I am going to share some of my favorite thanksgiving recipes over the next few day.

I got this recipe a few years back at a recipe exchange party and it has become a holiday favorite for my boys.

2 packages 1  3oz   1  8 oz creamed cheese cubed (I use fat free)

3 Table spoons water

3 tablespoons  skim milk

2 table spoons sugar (may use splenda in place of sugar just cut amount in half)

6 slices process American cheese cut into small pieces (I uses fat free)

Combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker for 4 hours until cheese is melted.  Stir before serving

Teacher Appreciaton DAY 1

It has been forever since Stephanie or have blogged. Life has gotten in the way and we have gotten busy with our  families, work, etc. What a better way to jump back into it though than Teacher Appreciation!  I am on the PTO at my girls' school so I am in charge of doing gifts for all the teachers in the school and the IA's. I also have to come up with gifts for my kids to take to their teachers. It is challenging to come up with so many different ideas but I think I was able to do it this year!

From the PTO I sent in these cute little pudding cups with the saying Thanks for pudding your heart into teaching ( or being an IA depending on who received it).
From my girls I had them take in these vases filled with Hershey kiss roses. What a pain they were to make but they turned out adorable!
Check back tomorrow for more ideas!

kitchen redo 4

I didn't post anything Monday because not a lot got done that you could see Friday or the weekend.  Yesterday and this morning there was a lot more to see.  All the electrical boxes are roughed in ready to hook up when drywall is done.  My dishwasher is suppose to arrive some time afternoon today.  I did get the tile off one side of the kitchen.  Tonight I will try to get it cleaned a little and get tile off where cabinets are going on other side of kitchen.  We will probably get to go get cabinets on Thursday.

kitchen redo day 2

wow the ugly old kitchen is starting to go away.  It looks really bad today but I know it is a sign of progress.
All the upper cabinets are down and old sheet rock is down.

upper cabinets gone

wall in middle of kitchen going away

see how the walls have boards on either side of wall.  the insulation is between the boards.

Today the rest of the wall will go away. and maybe lower cabinets.  they did find some old termite damage and the wood is going to be replace with some good wood they took down.   At least now I know why they had such a hard time putting wall anchors in in the living room for the TV mount the boards on the wall.

kitchen redo day 1

A lot was accomplished on the kitchen remodel the first day.

there is a old door behind this wall

so it was opened up

I got a very wonderful surprise when we  took the door out wonderful hard wood floors

this opening was taking up so much wall space in the kitchen

so it was closed up.

as carpet was coming up we found more hardwood at that point I went in and checked living room under carpet and it is in there also.

also started removing the wall with a door that was in the middle of the kitchen
All in all a very good first day.  I am so happy about the hardwood flooring.  We had checked when I was getting ready to move in but checked in the closet not knowing that closet was an access to under the house so didn't have nice wood in it.  I was planning to put down laminate now I am going to save a lot of money on flooring.  I am going to check bedrooms soon.  I hate my bedroom carpet so please keep your fingers crossed for hardwood.
