Make it Monday Necklace for a rock star party

Mindy's oldest daughter is having a birthday next weekend.  Her Party is going to have a rock star theme.  So I made these music note pendants that we are going to put on black stringing material.  We are both out of anything that would be good to string them on.  But I could not wait to post these because they turned out pretty good.  Later I will post about how we made the necklace part.
I saw a picture of this on pinterest so it is not an original idea. I will share with you how I made mine.

first you cut a piece of wire I did not measure this because the size will be based on personal preference

then you find the center and using round jewlery pliers make a loop in the middle

this is what you should have at this point

then you measure out the same distance on each side and bend the wire straight down
then using the round pliers again start a loop at the bottom
then coil the wire up from you loop till it looks like the picture below

I hammered the piece a little to make it stronger.
All done I made 12 of these in less than an hour.

Make it Monday beaded bobby pins

Hey everyone Stephanie here.  I am so excited I just got the notice that I got in to my first craft show ever.  Mindy has been doing craft shows with her daughters girl scout leader for over a year now and has been trying to talk me in to trying one or two.  I finally decided this was the year to go for it.  I am never going to know if my jewelry will sell unless I try.  So I have signed up for 3 shows.  This is the only one I know for sure on.  But it a start.  I am really excited.   I have been making lots of new stuff lately.
Today I made these beaded bobby pins.  They are made with glass beads, thin copper wires, and of course bobby pins.  All I did was wrap some wire around the bend in the bobby pin.  Add a bead to the wire push it down to the bobby pin and wrap the wire around the bobby pin to secure the bead.  Keep repeating this till you have beads all the way to the end of the bobby pin.  I then took the wire and wrapped it back up the bobby pin going in between each bead.  Then tuck the end of your wire back in to your wrapping making sure there are no sharp or pointy wires sticking out.
See I said it was easy just takes a little time and if you are like me reading glasses.(ha ha)
I hope everyone has a great night.  If you have any question feel free to ask.

Thrifty Thursday ( Fabric Rings)

I was bored today and was trying to think of a craft to do with all these small fabric scraps I have. I found an idea on Pintrest and changed it to fit me. This is what I came up.

First thing you need to do is cut a small piece of thin elastic. I didn't really measure it, I just wrapped it around my daughters finger.
Next cut a thin strip of fabric from your scraps.
Sew the ends of your elastic together and then sew one end of the fabric on.
Wrap the fabric around the elastic and then sew the other end of the fabric so that it is secure.
Use whatever kind of bead you have to decorate it.
Make sure you trim all the loose edges off (  I forgot to take pictures after I did that)
These take no time at all to make and are really cheap! My girls loved them !

make it monday

Today's make it Monday.
I have been trying to keep my goals for June here is the 3 things I made this week.  A bracelet

A necklace

and some earring.

These are silver colored links with wire wrapped beads.  The bracelet stones are blue orange green and yellow .    The necklace has clear, blue, orange, green, and yellow beads.  The earrings are yellow beads.  The Necklace is 32 inches long so it slips over you head really easy without needing a clasp.

These will be up on our Etsy sight by the end of the week.  SO if you like them go check them out.

welcome to what ever Wednesday

Hey Stephanie here.  My post to day may seen a little odd to some of you.  It is about cremation Jewelry.

I hear about this a few years ago and I was a little grossed out.  I had thought it was something where you could see the ashes.
But then one of my very best friend in the worlds dad passed away.  A few moths later her mom gave her a cross with a little bit if his ashes in it.  And she was very comforted by this.  I still was not sure how I felt about this but she told me you could not see the ashes it was inside the jewelry.  That made me feel a little better about it.

As you know we lost our youngest son on December 22,2011.  While we were making the arrangements I decided to look at some of the cremation jewelry.  I was very pleased to see that it was very elegant looking.  So I decided to get some for me and all of Nicks grandmothers.  Mine is a silver turtle because Nick had a turtle for many years.

From the front you would never know that it is anything but a turtle.  But on the back there is a little place drilled out they put a little bit of Nicks ashes in there and then there is a silver screw that seals it up.  I will post pictures at the end of this post

I have to say this has been a great comfort to me the last couple of weeks.  When I start to miss him I catch myself picking up the turtle on my necklace and holding it.  It makes me feel a little closer to him and not so sad.

So I have come full circle and changed my mind about Cremation Jewelry it is a very special (though not for everyone) thing to help you feel close to someone who is gone from our world.

Thank you for reading this post
